Case Study 2:
DSA Readiness For A Rapid-Growth Influencer Platform
Compliance Challenge: Digital Services Act (DSA) Compliance, Transparency Reporting, Risk Management
The Challenge
Key difficulties:

New DSA Obligations:
SparkLoop was classified as an “online platform” under the DSA, requiring specific transparency reports, user-friendly terms, and annual risk assessments.

Lack of Internal Expertise:
As a lean tech company, SparkLoop had no dedicated legal or compliance team. The founder-CEO was personally managing legal risk.

Algorithmic Transparency:

Illegal Content Reporting:

Budget Constraints:
With runway focused on product development, engaging a top-tier international law firm (estimated €60k–€100k) was impossible.
The DigiJao Solution
SparkLoop discovered DigiJao through a French tech accelerator. We deployed our DSA Compliance Sprint, a fixed-fee, time-bound engagement designed specifically for growth-stage platforms.
Phase 1: DSA Classification & Gap Analysis (Days 1–5)

Confirmed SparkLoop’s obligations under the DSA (not a VLOP, but still subject to core requirements).

Mapped 31 specific DSA requirements against existing processes. Identified 19 critical gaps.

Delivered a plain-English "DSA Playbook" explaining obligations in operational terms, not legalese.
Phase 2: Policy & Interface Implementation (Days 6–18)

Drafted and implemented new Terms of Service compliant with DSA Article 14 (clear, plain language, specific sections on content moderation).

Designed and deployed illegal content reporting forms integrated directly into SparkLoop’s app and website, with automated acknowledgment and decision timelines.

Created a transparency report template aligned with DSA Article 15, populated with initial data from SparkLoop’s systems.
Phase 3: Risk Assessment & Algorithmic Transparency (Days 19–30)

Conducted SparkLoop’s first annual DSA risk assessment, identifying systemic risks related to illegal content, negative effects on minors, and gender-based violence.

Worked with SparkLoop engineers to document key parameters of their recommendation algorithm in non-technical, user-friendly language.

Published a dedicated "DSA Information Hub" on SparkLoop’s website, meeting transparency obligations.
Post-Engagement: Ongoing DSA Compliance Monitoring

Transitioned SparkLoop to DigiJao’s continuous compliance subscription, including quarterly risk assessment updates and real-time DSA regulatory monitoring.

Client Testimonial:
"I genuinely believed we would have to stop serving EU users. The DSA felt impossible for a startup like us. DigiJao walked us through every requirement, built the tools we needed, and had us fully compliant in one month. Their team understood our product and our constraints. This wasn't just legal advice—it was operational partnership."
